What is that smile on Johan Santana's face? Is it that the nurse held his testicles and said "turn your head and cough" and passed his physical? Or is it the newly minted $137.5 Million contract? I think it is the $137.5 Million. Passing his physical made the trade official and he heads east to wear the New York Mets jersey. After much speculation that he would end up wearing a New York Yankees uniform or Boston Redsox shirt, it was the New York Mets who will end up with one of the best pitchers in baseball, healthy testicles and all.
The Yankees were not willing to part with their 2 young pitching prospects (Phillip Hughes & Ian Kennedy) and Melky Cabrera nor the Redsox with John Lester and Jacoby Ellsbury. That's 10 quality and healthy testicles! Instead the Minnesota Twins settled for 8 testicles that are not considered the cream of the crop by the Mets (outfielder Carlos Gomez and right-handers Philip Humber, Kevin Mulvey and Deolis Guerra).
Now the Mets just better hope that Johan Santana doesn't become another star that flops in a Mets uniform, like Mo Vaughn, Carlos Delgado, and Carlos Beltran, or they will feel like they have heard the nurse say "bend over and touch your toes"!
